History
Albany State University, located in Albany, GA, was founded in 1903 as the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institution by Joseph Winthrop Holley. The school began to receive state funding in 1917, and became a four year institution in 1942. Albany State University is a historically black institution, and its primary goal is educating students so they can become contributing members of society.
Academics
Albany State University is primary a liberal arts school and offers over 30 programs, offering bachelors, masters and a variety of other programs. The university prides itself on providing quality education with a personal touch, reaching out to as many students possible to help them achieve their goals.

Students interested in applying to Albany State University should have their transcripts sealed and sent, take the placement exam if the SAT or ACT has not been taken, and fill out and submit the application form in full to the school prior to the listed deadlines.
