Founded in 1968, Macon State College has grown from a small junior college of 1,100 students to the largest 4-year, residential, bachelor's degree-awarding college in Central Georgia. With beautiful facilities in Macon and Warner Robins, Macon State is focused on providing professionally oriented programs to address the workforce needs of Georgia. Our baccalaureate degree programs are market-driven disciplines essential to the economic vitality of the region. The college continues to prepare students to compete in a technologically advanced global economy while developing important life skills and a firm foundation in the liberal arts. As a complement to its baccalaureate mission, Macon State offers a variety of associate of arts and associate of science degrees, transfer programs and career certificate programs.

Admission Informaiton

Admission to Macon State College requires that the Office of Admissions know as much about the academic ability of its applicants as possible. Only after such information is obtained is the College able to make an admission decision in the best interest of both the applicant and the College. Thus, the procedures outlined below should be followed in furnishing the Office of Admissions with a complete set of such relevant information.

An applicant must be qualified to do college work and must be of good moral character. The College shall have the right to examine an applicant's academic competence and character. The College reserves the right to require additional data from an applicant and to have the applicant appear for a personal interview before his or her application is accepted or rejected.

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible for the term in which they plan to enroll. For a student to be considered admission, an application must be submitted at least thirty days prior to the beginning of the semester for which admission is sought.

Evaluations of transfer credit are mailed to applicants prior to the first class day as long as the admissions file was complete by the application deadline. Otherwise, evaluations of transfer credit will be mailed to students during the first semester.

Prospective students should:

  • Complete the college admissions application
  • An application fee of $20.00 (non-refundable) is required.
  • If entering directly from high school, have an official transcript mailed by the high school directly to the Office of Admissions.
  • If entering on the basis of a GED "High School Equivalency Diploma," have an official transcript of GED test scores mailed by the State Department of Education directly to the Office of Admissions.
  • If entering as a home-schooled student or as a graduate from a non-accredited high school, please contact the Office of Admissions for application instructions.
  • If requested by the Office of Admissions, have official test scores sent directly to the admissions office.
  • If entering as a transfer student, have an official transcript from each college attended mailed by the respective registrar's offices directly to the Office of Admissions.
  • Verification of Lawful Presence.
  • Provide additional documentation as requested by the Office of Admissions.

The Office of Admissions follows minimum admission standards established by the University System of Georgia (USG), as well as institutionally approved standards. An applicant's right of appeal is provided by the bylaws of the College and of the USG BOR. Appeals must be made in writing to the Director of Admissions. An Admissions Advisory Committee, chaired by the Director of Admissions, reviews written appeals on an as-needed basis. The student is notified in writing of the decision by the Admissions Advisory Committee, and written appeals and correspondence are stored in the document imaging system maintained by the Office of Admissions. The decision of the Admissions Advisory Committee is final.
