History

The Illinois College of Optometry (ICO), located in Chicago, Illinois, was founded by Dr. Henry Olin in 1872. The school is the oldest continually operating optometry facility in the world. ICO has remained a leader of optometry for over 135 years and has been dedicated to providing a quality education to aspiring optometry students.

 

Academics

ICO provides a doctor of optometry (OD) degree to graduates of it optometry program. ICO's class and clinical programs are considered top-notch, covering a broad range of the sciences and preparing students for work in the field of optometry. The clinical portion of the program has over 150 affiliate clinics it works with the provide students with rotations. 20% of ODs in the United States are graduates of ICO.

 

Admissions and Financial Aid

Admission to the Illinois College of Optometry requires a certain amount of prerequisite college hours in a variety of subjects be completed.  Individuals may visit the website or contact the school for more information. Financial aid is available to eligible students. Eligibility is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA),  which must be completed and submitted.
