About
Illinois Valley Community College, located in Oglesby, Illinois, was founded in 1924 and was originally known as LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College. The school was renamed in 1966 to the current, and was relocated two years later to the location at which it stands today. The school expanded its role as an educational institution in that time, and had a growing service area to match its changing role and continues to receive community support to fulfill that role. The school offers day and night courses to assist in flexible scheduling for its students.
Academics
Illinois Valley Community College is a public, two year institution that offers a large number of programs that allow for academic transfer or career development opportunities. Academic transfer programs provide the first two years of a four year education, followed by transfer to a four year college to continue that education and earn a bachelor's degree. Career training programs assists in the pursuit of long term employment through education one's chosen high demand field or industry. Such programs take between one and two years to complete and result in a degree or certificate.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Illinois Valley Community College is an open enrollment institution that allows any individual interested in joining to enroll by first submitting an application, transcripts, and test scores, as well as paying all associated fees. Applicants must be at least eighteen or have a high school diploma or equivalent. Participation in new student orientation and meeting with a counselor are encouraged. Financial aid is available in the form of loans and grants which are awarded based on need as determined by the information a student provides on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
