About
Moraine Valley Community College, located in Palos Hills, Illinois, was founded in 1967 and is Illinois' second largest community college, serving over 35,000 students a year. The school occupies nearly 300 acres, offering modern facilities and services to the community as well as over 100 degree and certificate programs. The school has an active campus life through clubs, organizations, and athletics, as well services such as day care and adult education programs to assist students in returning to school or making education a viable choice. Moraine Valley Community College is dedicated to providing the highest quality education to its enrollees, constantly reviewing and updating its programs to ensure they meet current standards and revising them as necessary.

Academics
Moraine Valley Community College offers a large number of programs resulting in academic transfer or career education. The variety of programs ensures that a given students will find a program that suits his or her goals. Academic transfer programs offer a low cost alternative to a four year education by allowing students to complete the freshman and sophomore years at the community college prior to transferring to a four year institution to complete a bachelor's degree. Academic transfer is facilitated through agreements in place with public colleges and universities in Illinois which will admit all students who meet certain academic requirements, though students may apply to any four year institution they wish.

Career programs provide an education in a particular field, usually in high demand, that require skills and knowledge in order to successfully perform one's duties. These programs provide training of those skills, utilizing practical education alongside classroom work in order to simulate the work environment and prepare the student for employment immediately after graduation. These programs take between one and two years to complete, resulting in a certificate or diploma to demonstrate one's qualifications in the field.

Programs offered include:

Admissions and Financial Aid
As an open enrollment institution, all students who apply to Moraine Valley Community College will be accepted. Students interested in enrolling at the MVCC must provide transcripts, take a placement exam, and participate in orientation prior to registering for classes. Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants, work study programs and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the information from which is used to determine eligibility and awards. Students should complete the FAFSA prior to financial aid deadlines in order to ensure that funds are received in a timely fashion. Students may be asked to provide additional financial information to ensure accuracy prior to the disbursement of funds. Scholarships are also available from various organizations and overseeing bodies, each requiring its own application and awarded for a any number of reasons.
