About

The Ellis School of Nursing, located in Schenectady, New York, was founded in 1903 to provide a nursing education to interested individuals. The school reduced the length of the program in 1986, and the first class to receive an associate degree graduated in 1994. Throughout its history the school has moved from one location to another, from office buildings to hospitals. Many graduates of the Ellis School of Nursing find their first job at Ellis Hospital, which welcomes graduates to work in any departments that require nurses.

Academics

The nursing program at Ellis School of Nursing is an accelerated program requiring two full years of study and one summer session to complete. Once completed students will receive an associate's degree in nursing. The school has agreements in place with many schools in the State University of New York system and the City University of New York System to allow credit transfer into a bachelor's of nursing program. Some required courses for the program must be taken elsewhere, and are readily available at the Schenectady Community College.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students wishing to enroll at ESON must complete and submit the application for admission along with all associated fees. Once submitted the students has until the start of the fall semester to complete all prerequisites required for admission. All applications are considered on an individual basis and take approximately a month after the application deadline to deliver a response.

The Ellis School of Nursing offers a variety of financial aid opportunities, including federal grants and loans, Native American grants, scholarships, higher education service corporation programs and others. Interested students should contact the school's financial aid office in order to discuss their financial aid eligibility and awards.
