About
The Webb Institute is a private institution located in Glen Cove, New York. The Webb Institute is a small college offering a single program of study. The school has 11 permanent faculty members and approximately 80 students a year. The single program offered is a double major in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
The school offers real world experience through paid internships every year along with a rigorous curriculum and extensive study. Due to the small class sizes there are no teacher's assistants, thus the students have available to them the full experience and knowledge of their professors in intimate classroom settings.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Admissions into the Webb Institute are highly competitive. The school looks at the complete student, grades, motivations, test scores, extracurricular activities and more when determining who will be allowed to enroll. Transfer students and students who have obtained college credit through the passage of advanced placement exams will find that they begin school as freshman with a zero credit count. This is due to the highly rigorous curriculum and the unique approach toward the subject matter.
All students enrolled at the Webb Institute receive a 100% scholarship toward tuition. Costs for students are limited too room, board, books laptop and software. Financial aid is available through federal grants and loans to help cover the above stated costs. Students in need of such assistance may begin the process by completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Webb Institute will assist students in securing financial aid.
Athletics
The Webbies participate in inter-collegiate athletics through the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference and the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association. Additionally the Student Organization sponsors intramural events including floor hockey tournaments and student vs. faculty games.
