- To train students in the Barber/Stylist Program, which includes hair cutting, hair styling, permanent waving, hair coloring, and all phases of theory outlined in this catalog.
To prepare students to be able to complete the course, take the final exams given by the school's instructors, and receive a diploma.
To prepare students to take and pass the exam given by the State Board of Barber Examiners upon completion of school.
To prepare students to enter the ranks of the local and national workforce in the entry level position of apprentice barber.

- I started Winston Salem Barber School in August 1994 and finished up with my Apprentice license in May 1995. I had a very enjoyable time there for 9 1/2 months. You learn the basic there which is what you need, but your real experience comes from inside the Barber shop. I've been barbering for almost 16 years now, my Husband had also attended this school 10 years before me and he had his shop waiting for me when I got through with training. We have always enjoyed our profession and have done very well with it. Be proud be a Barber! Thank you goes to Joe Long and Gray Speeks for my training.
