Flag Review - Rating:
- Age shouldn't matter and neither should race, Citizenship, or education status. That was a little harsh and if you would have gone to school for something that you really admired to be then the end result would've been different. You should've done your homework on what the degrees you were going to school for and what kind of income that line of work maintained or held. It's not the school's fault its your own. You know as a half Hispanic/half White woman with a GED that is going to school for Electrical Engineering, Nursing, and Physics, because I love and want to do different careers, I want to have a back up plan if something doesn't work out for me, and I want to learn because well....I love working hard and I love learning. Even I know to look up what kind of income I WILL be getting or obtaining after I am done with my education. You shouldn't listen to what an Admissions Office employee tells you because have they obtained those degrees? No. Do they know that line of work? No. You only have yourself to blame and rely on. So instead of blaming a school, education system, or an educator...do the math first.
I heard that UIW was an awesome school and I have quite a few friends that went there and are actually very successful. You could even go to SAC or any college and ask the Career placement office if they can help you find a job since you obtained that degree in Texas, they could possibly help you. I know SAC's Career Placement/Assistance office will help me after I graduate because I am doing my prerequisites there.

- The nuns and priests and tenured professors are wonderful. So are the adjunct professors who come after work to teach. These are all educators who are passionate and love their work. BUT...the Admissions Office doesn't always tell the truth. I received a B.A. in Org. Psych in 1999 and an M.A. in Adult Education in 2001. I was told by the Admissions Office that I would definitely be on my way to getting great compensation and a wonderful career. The end result? After all these years I NEVER have worked in the field and in the career I was promised even after obtaining both degrees with HONORS. I now work freelance and as an education consultant but I certainly don't make the money that I was promised. My student loans are now on Income Based Repayment and I seriously doubt I ever will be able to pay them back....I am 53 years young now but who wants to hire someone who is bi-racial (white/Native American) and over 30 in a city full of young, GED educated Hispanics, many of them not even US citizens?!
