Built in 1965 under the name Tarrant County Junior College, the Tarrant County College District (TCC) is now comprised of five campuses and is the sixth largest college in the state of Texas. TCC is comprised of the Northeast Campus in Hurst, Southeast Campus in Arlington, and the Northwest, South, and Trinity campuses in Fort Worth. As of 2009, enrollment has reached a total of 44,000 students in the various associate degrees and technical courses available across all TCC campuses.

This two-year college was established to provide higher education to students within Tarrant county through affordable tuition and an open admissions policy. Programs in Business, Music, Communication, Computer Science, and Engineering are among those being offered on campus and via the Distance Learning curriculum. Opportunities for studying overseas are available in Italy, France, Mexico, and Austria.

Continuing Education forms part of TCC's framework. Various courses in job skills improvement, English proficiency, and other special programs are offered for local businesses and individuals. Developmentally challenged students can likewise avail of vocational training and programs for academic enrichment. The College for Kids summer program provides three weeks of classes for children in second to eighth grade each year while those in high school are encouraged to earn college credits under the Dual Enrollment program.

TCC provides academic advisement and career guidance, in the aim to prepare its students for pursuing four-year degrees in other universities. Other student services include disability support, tutorials, and financial aid. Students can join a number of organizations and avail of wellness programs at the college's recreation facilities.
