- Mission.
In partnership with the church, Hawai`i Theological Seminary exists to glorify God by
equipping Christians for leadership in service to church and society through Christian
spiritual formation, higher education, and guided experience. It shall do this by
advancing theological higher education that fosters:
1. Truth in understanding and practice;
2. Ethics of the highest level in Christian ministry and life;
3. Dignity for each Christian as divinely gifted to bless church & society;
4. Service as a divine calling for each Christian; and
5. Unity among Christians as an emphatic element of God's will.
We of Hawai'i Seminary desire that our students, through all of their learning
experiences and contacts, will develop an increasing awareness of their role as members
of the body of Christ, the Church universal. We want them to work effectively and
efficiently with others by finely-tuning and contributing their unique, God-given talents
toward the goal of being the image of Christ on earth.
At Hawaii Seminary, students can live and serve the Lord in a multicultural setting while
they pursue their education. We seek to serve students in many ways:
1) by providing a biblical and professional education that will equip men and women for
Christian ministry,
2) by serving as a biblical and theological resource center for the equipping of Christian
laypeople,
3) by preparing men and women for further professional studies, and
4) by providing continuing education for pastors, missionaries and other Christian
workers. Our well-qualified faculty represents a broad spectrum of churches and
parachurch organizations. Our students have distinguished themselves in other
institutions of higher learning and in ministry positions in Hawaii and around the world.
