History

The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS), located in Phoenix, Arizona, was founded in New York City as the recording studio Songshop in 1980. Songshop began offering training in recording which grew in popularity and was expanded to offer industry internships as part of its offering. In 1987 the whole of the enterprise was moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and changed its name to The Academy of Recording Sciences. The following year the school was again renamed The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences to better reflect the schools mission.

Academics

The CRAS Master Recording Program II has 30 weeks of classes and 12 internship hours which upon completion will provide the student with a diploma and several professional certifications. Internship placement is nationwide and offers students an opportunity to work alongside professionals and witness firsthand the work, skills and experience necessary to succeed.

In addition the MRP II diploma, CRAS offers certification courses for a variety of professional hardware and software systems. CRAS, unsatisfied with the certification exams offered by the various companies went about producing its own materials and exams to offer students more in depth and accurate knowledge of the various tools.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students interested in enrolling at CRAS should complete and submit the online application. Once completed an admissions officer will contact the student for a phone interview. If accepted the student will then meet with a Student Planning Coordinator to work on the details of admittance, including fees, start date and possible relocation. Financial aid is available. Students interested in financial aid must contact the financial aid office and work with a counselor to determine eligibility.
