About
The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) was founded in Portland, Oregon in 1983. OCOM is one of the oldest colleges in the United States offering an education in traditional Chinese medicines. The school offers masters and doctoral degrees in acupuncture and oriental medicine and the programs are considered some of the most comprehensive in the country. The school also operates clinics where individuals can enter for treatments and students can obtain hands on experience.
Academics
OCOM offers degree programs for Master's of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MACOM) and Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM). OCOM offers a foundation n acupuncture, herbal medicine, therapeutic massage and qi cultivation. Additionally the school focuses on the collaboration of Chinese and western biomedicine. The two programs are designed to train competent highly skilled health care practitioners and lay the groundwork for ongoing study and development of the field of acupuncture and oriental medicine.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Those interested in attending The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine can apply online for additional information or register for an admissions seminar. Individuals can also complete the online application along with two personal essays, two letter of recommendation from professionals with whom you are familiar, official transcripts from all preciously attended institutions, and the application fee. Once received, the application will be reviewed and an interview will be scheduled and conducted, and soon after a decision regarding admissions will be made. Financial aid is available to interested students, with information being made available through the financial aid portion of OCOM's website and through the financial aid office.
