Northcentral University is an online university established in 1996 based in San Diego, California. As an online university, Northcentral University does not require any physical residency requirements unlike most colleges. This can lend itself nicely for a variety of prospective college applicants especially busy students, working professionals, military personnel, and international students.
NCU offers a unique, one-to-one learning model as the classroom size for online students is effectively just one. Northcentral University is accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Specific programs attaining accreditation from additional bodies including The Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP) and The Commission of Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). As a virtual university, NCU offers a full suite of support for students with access to: a robust virtual library, academic success center, dissertation center, time management foundation courses, virtual bookstore, ePortfolio for each student, and a variety of honor societies. NCU also is one of the few university institutions that offer weekly starts for classes instead of quarterly or semester-based starts for classes.
In terms of financial aid, NCU provides access to a number of school-based grants and scholarships for qualified applicants. Private aid may also be available for qualified students that can include private grants, scholarships, and loans. NCU does provide a very unique tuition lock program whereby students can lock in a tuition rate today for the next two years.
