Los Angeles Southwest College, located in Los Angeles, California, was founded in 1967 through the approval of the Los Angeles Board of Education. The school opened to an enrollment of 600 students, and since then has grown in size and scope, serving southern Los Angeles as a educational and cultural center, and serving over 6000 students annually. Los Angeles Southwest College is a two year public post-secondary institution that believes in providing students the best education possible, and takes pride in the fact that its students have a high graduation rate, becoming professionals in a variety of fields.


Academics
Southwest Los Angeles College offers a variety of programs that result in an associate degree or certificate. Students are able to choose a program of study that best suits their career or academic goals. Career and technical programs provide students with an education in one of many typically high demand fields, providing the training, skills, and knowledge necessary to operate as a professional in that field upon completion. Such programs typically take between one and two years to complete, resulting in an associate degree or certificate.
