American Career College is a system of schools located in the state of California. The school was founded in 1978 by David Pyle and was originally known as American College of Optics. The initial campus operated in downtown Los Angeles, with a second campus in Anaheim, offering a program in optical dispensing until 1994 when it began to offer a vocational nursing program. The school has expanded since that time through the addition of new and varied programs, increased enrollment, and the establishment of new campuses in Ontario, Long Beach and Lynwood.

Today American Career College offers a variety of programs, allowing potential students to choose the area of study that best prepares them for their desired career. Programs are taught by experienced professionals who provide education; training and skill development to ensure students meet and exceed employer expectations. Students will earn a diploma or associate’s degree upon completion of a program, with graduates being able to pursue employment immediately.

The Lakewood branch of American Career College Inc is located at 4105 South Street. This campus has a graduating class size which is close to 720 students annually. This location provides services for students in the form of flexible scheduling for individuals who cannot make regular hours, distance learning courses for students who wish to pursue their education online, and job placement options for students after graduation.
