Located in Pensacola in Florida, the school first operated in 1976 as a single classroom in a local hospital.  The Florida Institute of Ultrasound Inc was first named as the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography but was later change to its current name in 1979.  Today, the school has grown into a large 4,800 square feet establishment that comes complete with classrooms, libraries and several laboratories.

Admission to the school requires students to have associate degree in Allied Health. Students who wish to train in Florida Institute of Ultrasound Inc need to take a minimum of 48 college credits with perquisite courses on anatomy, biology and algebra.
