HEMSPN aims in developing licensed graduates to become competent practitioners and/or to continue to higher nursing education. It is accomplished through clinical experience and observation founded on evidenced based nursing theory and community partnerships.
HEMSPN provides a 44 week full-time educational and experiential program in nursing. Aspiring students should take the A.C.T. WorkKeys pre-entrance test and medical terminology course before the enrollment in spring and fall. The admission is on a first come first serve basis. And there are financial assistance through Title IV Funding, grants and loans available, just go to the local One Stop Office.
As a student, you will be focused on the nursing care of individuals in various fields such as pediatrics, geriatrics, IV therapy and medical administration. You will take up theory courses and have clinical experiences during weekdays with an occasional weekend or afternoon experience.
Upon completion and with additional Ohio Board of Nursing requirements, you are eligible to take the national licensing exam, NCLEX-PN. And if you pass the exam, your Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) can be transferred to any state opening more doors for employment. The need for nursing practitioners continues to be in demand in schools, hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health care, and physician offices.
