Texas Colleges, Universities And Trade Schools

The state of Texas is the largest in the continental United States and is host to a very large number of institutions of higher learning. The state of Texas itself is a mix of rural and urban areas, with regions far apart from one another. Due to this the state of Texas operates a large number of public institutions through many college and university systems. Some of the school systems are regional or local, while others are state wide, a few are public but are operated independently of any system. The state of Texas has a proud tradition of educational and athletic excellence from its institutions of higher learning. These school systems include:

The University of Texas System operates nine academic institutions and six health institutions for a total of 15 locations. The flagship institution is The University of Texas at Austin, located in the capitol of Texas. The system serves 190,000 students annually. Some of the schools within the system include:

 

 

The Texas A&M University System is consider one of the largest in the United States, operating eleven universities, eight state agencies, and a health science center.  The Texas A&M University System serves over 100,000 students annually and conducts over $600,000,000 in research per year. The oldest school in the system, Texas A&M University (College Station), dates back to 1876, when it was known as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. Texas is also host to a large number of private institutions ranging from liberal arts colleges to theological institutions.
