Please please please do not make the mistake of attending this college. I started the paralegal program in January if 2014 and it was the biggest mistake of my life. Some of the teachers are cool, don't get me wrong, but about half are just no good at all in my opinion. Yes they may be qualified but they don't teach you what you actually need to know to work in the field but that's the least of it. In less than 2 years we went from 2 different paralegal counselors to just none at all. Eventually they never filled the spot, and someone who was already working to much took over that, so there was little organization. The tuition is crazy for just a certificate, you can obtain the EXACT same degree in a JC for basically free if you have financial aid. And here I am 2 months after I "graduated" still waiting for my diploma in the mail, and having to explain to my interviewers why I don't have it yet.

I am a current student at Sage with a 4.0. I am starting to become discouraged. The instructors I do not feel are up to par!!! The administration is lacking. I feel thsy are hypocritical as they hold you to a standard but do not hold themselves to the same standard. If you make waves you become an outcast. The instructors do not return emails etc. I have noticed those who can't do teach...theory!!!

In my opinion, one of the best schools in the country for court reporting. Proven program that works. It's not easy, but worth the effort if you stick to it.

Although I can't speak for anyone else, I had a completely opposite experience at Sage in all aspects. Teachers have been nothing but informative and encouraging to me even as well as constantly asking what they could do to get me through and help me progress faster. I feel like they care a lot about my success. Even when I was slacking in what I needed to be doing and time I was putting in, they were on me holding me accountable, which I appreciated. When I shopped around, it seems as though all private schools were pretty expensive (as education is these days)...So I thought Sage's tuition was very comparable...and you can't really ignore the CA Court Reporters Board's stats. Every statistical report I saw that the state posted had Sage at least (if not always) higher than the pass rates of all other schools, which is ultimately why I chose them. To me it's more expensive to go to a cheaper school that doesn't pass very many students. I look at it as I am investing in my future. That’s just my two cents' worth!

These other reviews are "dead on" accurate. It's very unfortunate that Sage College only cares about the money aspect of things. They are greedy and provide lack luster attention to their students. After seeing years of internal cat and mouse games to keep students in school with little assistance to help them achieve their goals I decided to attend another school. I might add that the instructors at this school were not able to be successful in the field themselves and stayed at the school rather than make it in the actual profession they deem they are professional instructors.

At first, when you go for a tour of the campus, they are so positive and encouraging. They even go so far as to tell you that you can complete the course in 18 months.. That's a lie! The average student takes anywhere from 4 to 5 years. I have only seen a couple of people complete the course within 2 years. I was also told that I could earn my "Associate's Degree", free of charge, while completing the program. Another lie! I had to pay $150 for each online class, and I found out after I had taken 2 of the online classes that the "Associate's Degree" classes are non-transferable. In other words, it's worthless. In my opinion, the teachers are paid to hold you back in each of the speed classes. Unless you have lots of time and a whole lot of money, I would suggest looking for another school that offers a court reporting program, i.e., Tri Community Adult School in Covina, CA. Tri Community allows you to use your real-time software throughout the program in all speeds. In fact, they require it. Sage will only allow you to start using real-time when you are in 200wpm; another way of holding you back. Most students accumulate an excess of $40,000 in student loans by the time they are finished. Tri Community - $75 per term (4 terms a year) Sage College does not care if their students succeed or not; they only care about the money. Court Reporting is a wonderful profession. Court reporters have the potential of making very good money, but you don't have to go into major debt to become one. If you choose to take this journey, I wish you the best of luck. You can do it! Just believe in yourself and practice, practice, practice!!

This school is just okay. The tuition is too high for what it covers. If you need to take an online class, you must pay for it out of pocket. If you need to take an opposite session class because the class in your session is full, you have to pay. They make sure they make their money any way possible. The instructors are very discouraging. You ask them for material for help, and they give it to you, but it's not very helpful. All in all , this program is an on your own program, if you don't have AT LEAST 5 hours a day to practice... don't do it. You'll never get out of there and you'll have lots of loans. For the school being located in an isolated shopping center, there is inadequate security. The school hours state that it closes at 10:00pm Mondays through Thursday, but they want you out of there by 9:45pm. The school closes early on Fridays, so if you needed to take a test, and you work, your are S.O.L. because they close early.
