South University is a system of schools that is comprised of twelve locations in nine states. The University was originally established in 1899 by Dr. John Draughon in Savannah Georgia and was originally known as Draughon’s Practical Business College. The school eventually came under the ownership of the Education Management Corporation and has since expanded into what is now South University. The school prides itself on its 100 plus years of educational excellence, having refined and extended its methods over the years. The university also provides a distance learning option through South University Online which provides opportunities for students nationwide. South University offers degrees that range from the associate level to the doctoral, and is continually expanding its areas of study and offerings, including the recent addition of a doctor of pharmacy program at its Savannah, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina locations.
