Allen Community College, located in Iola, Kansas, was founded in 1923 and was originally known as Iola Junior College. The school served the city of Iola until 1965 when a community college district was established for the school, expanding its service area and changing its name to Allen County Community Junior College. The name was again changed in 1980 to Allen Country Community College to better reflect the changing role of the school and its service to the community.
