The school is one of 112 that comprise the California Community College System, which operates two year institutions throughout the state and is the largest such system in terms of size, number of schools and enrollment in the United States. Today programs are accessible through various means, including tablets, computers, and cell phones. Individuals may choose the type of program they will pursue, be it for academic transfer or career training. Academic transfer programs allow students to pursue a bachelor's degree by first completing the first two years of that education at the community college. Once completed, students will apply for transfer to a college or university to continue their education. Transfer to a University of California or California State University system school is made easier through agreements in place that  guarantee admission if certain requirements are met.

Career training programs allow students to receive an education in a specific field or industry with the intention of seeking employment upon completion of the program. Given that's some programs require hands on training for specific skills, individuals may be required to attend classes at one of the three physical locations in order to complete their education. A programs can take between one and two years to complete, and results in a degree or certificate upon completion.
