
The mission of Baton Rouge Community College Technical Education is to offer instructional programs that provide employees with the skills they need to contribute to society. The college provides people with hands on learning that prepares them for the workforce.
Programs of study include Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Barber, Automotive Technology, Business Office Technology, Care and Development of Young Children, Culinary Arts, Graphics, Drafting, Machine Tool Technology, Information Technology, Medical Assistant, Nurse Assistant, Welding, and Pharmacy Technician.
The college used to be called Capital Area Technical College. It is made up of six campuses. BRCC is governed by the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS). The school is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE).
Baton Rouge Community College provides an outstanding education for an affordable price. Full-time tuition for in-state students is only $1,275. Out-of-state students pay $2,028.
Programs are also conducted on Saturdays. The Westside Campus often holds an American Welding Society (AWS) Welding Training Program on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The program currently cost $550.
The college also grants a degree in Helicopter Pilot Operations. The program is VA Chapter 33 benefits approved for eligible U.S. Military Veterans utilizing their Post 9/11 GI bill benefits. Individuals who complete the program will become Certificated Flight Instructors.
Baton Rouge Community College administers many outstanding services. Health care services are available as well as assistance for individuals with disabilities. Counseling is also provided by the school at no additional cost.
