Established in 1972 as Wayne General and Technical College, University of Akron Wayne College serves as an integral educational resource for the Wayne, Medina and Holmes Counties. The campus is situated on the north edge of the city of Orrville occupying 160 acres of land area.

UA-WC offers quality and accessible academic programs as it strives to become a center of excellence in teaching and learning. The average class size in this school is 18 and the student-to-faculty ratio is 23 to 1. Full-time faculty members of this school are highly qualified and more than half of them are doctorate degree holders.

Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, UA-WC is authorized to award associate degrees. Students can obtain initial credits for a bachelor's degree in this campus as preparation for transfer to the Akron campus or other four-year institutions. UA-WC also hosts continuing education and workforce development programs.

Utilizing appropriate technology and effective instructional methods, this college fosters an environment that support student learning and develop their analytic and critical thinking capability. UA-WC has recently added two new bachelor's degrees to its roster of credit programs, the Bachelor in Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Social Works.

UA-WC provides the students with the opportunities to participate in sports and it is a home to the Wayne Warriors athletic team. For students to become involved in several activities apart from athletics, they can participate in various clubs and organizations, social events and cultural activities.
