About
Vernon College is located in Vernon, Texas.  It is a public two-year higher education institution.  VC was founded in 1972 through the passing of a vote in 1970 by residents of Wilbarger County. The school has expanded steadily since its founding, adding additional programs, facilities and athletics.

Additionally, the school maintains the Red River Valley Museum which offers exhibits and information on local history dating as far back as the prehistoric age. Originally known as Vernon Regional Junior College, the school changed its name in 2001, to better reflect the school expanded role in the community.

Academics
Vernon College offers a number of programs that allow students to pursue academic transfer or receive a career oriented education for the purposes of employment. Academic transfer provides students with a curriculum that mirrors the first two years of a four year education, followed by applying to a four year institution to continue that education and earn a bachelor's degree.

Technical and career training programs provide students with the skills and education necessary to enter the workforce in a given industry or field. Programs take between one and two years to complete and result in a certificate or degree.

Vernon College is an open enrollment institution, and as such allows any student interested in enrollment to do so through the submission of an application, payment of fees, and providing of previous transcripts and test scores. Students are encouraged to participate in orientation and to meet with a counselor prior to registration.

Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships, which are awarded based on need as determined by the applicants Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Aid must be reapplied for prior to each academic year.
