I enjoyed attending Vol. State for 4 semesters. The campus is pretty. One thing I will say is that sometimes advising misses the mark completely and at times you wonder if your advisor is making things up. I personally went to the advising center, got registered for classes, was assigned an advisor and then never spoke to the first one. The 2nd one blatantly discouraged me from switching my major- which I did anyways.
The next advisor I got, I asked to be switched from being I didn't appreciate the attempt at being recruited to a "similar, but different" degree. My next advisor helped with classes, but I found her too late and the class I needed was full. I never saw her again. I was then assigned a completion advisor and she worked with me getting my final class handled. It wasn't being offered the semester I needed and the math and science department was not helpful. I ended up having to take the class at another school as a transient student ( Having a nightmare of a time with the financial aid office. Just the worst department I had to deal with- yes, worse than the advisor department.), and I finally graduated.
My advice? Know what you need for your degree. Don't let them tell you. Find out. Overall, the teaching was okay. I only had one adjunct teacher that real my shouldn't have been teaching. And one professor that literally showed up to class took attendance and walked out (Sure it was a computer class, but goodness! if I ask a question "did you Google it is not an acceptable response).
