“According to the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Medical assisting is projected to be one of the fastest growing occupations over the 2004-2014 period.” This is what Med-Assist School of Hawaii highlights as a reason to join one of its many medical assisting programs. With a strong trend prediction such as this, it is no wonder that this 1974-launched school in Honolulu is a leader in healthcare education in Hawaii.
But government predictions are not the reason why schools become reputed. MASH, as the school is better known, has entrusted itself with the mission of providing quality health education and creating career opportunities for their students, who they develop to be supportive, confident and competent graduates in their chosen fields.
MASH offers two key programs: the Medical Assistant Program, established as their first course, in 1974, and the Professional Medical Coding Program, established in 2011. Both programs have helped hundreds of students acquire classroom, practical and internship experience before they set foot into their chosen careers.
The school also offers several scholarship programs that assist students with their tuition and other costs while they study for their certifications. In addition, the student services department provides tutoring services, counseling, coordination of volunteers for student activities, organizes graduation ceremonies and provides job placement assistance for graduates.
MASH is one of the most acclaimed medical assisting schools in Hawai’i, providing hands-on training, imparted by experienced professionals, a host of internship and externship programs, small class sizes to facilitate individual attention and accreditation by the ABHES – the only accrediting body specializing in the health care profession.
