Medical laboratory scientists help doctors diagnose and treat diseases. This is achieved through laboratory analyses of blood and body fluids. St. Johns Hospital School of Clinical Lab Science offers an outstanding clinical lab program. Class sizes are small and provide hands on learning. The school is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences and is located in Springfield, IL. The cost of tuition is $2,000.

The program is recognized by ten colleges and will fulfill requirements for a bachelor degree. Classroom instruction and clinical experiences make up the program. Classroom instructions consist of lectures in a variety of subjects. The clinical component provides hands on training for a specific number of weeks.

Students will receive a certificate from St. John’s Hospital School upon completion of the program and a baccalaureate degree from their home college. After graduation, students can take the national certification examination given by the ASCP Board of Certification for certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.

Applicants need to complete an application and reference form that can be downloaded. Applicants must submit a completed application by December 1 to be considered for the following July class. A non-refundable $15 application fee must accompany the application. An on-site interview is also required. Interview dates will be given following receipt of the application.
