Unitek College™ is a privately held vocational school dedicated to helping you gain the skills needed to advance your career or begin a brand new career. Your training at Unitek College will position you to take advantage of the rising demand for experts in allied health, nursing, and technology professions. Our programs include Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, Dental Assisting, Vocational Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing: RN-to-BSN Degree Completion.
Medical Assisting
Medical Assisting is a great program for people interested in providing care and comfort to those with medical needs. Unitek College’s 9-month Medical Assisting program offers an active learning environment with an emphasis on practicing real clinical skills. Our program covers medical terminology, medical front office procedures, medical/clinical procedures, basic anatomy and physiology, and special Medical Assisting duties.
Our knowledgeable teachers and hands-on training methods create a low-pressure setting where you can learn and grow in pursuit of your new career as a Medical Assistant.
All students complete an externship, which provides practical experience in a physicians' office, hospital, or other healthcare facility. Emphasis is placed on communication, critical thinking, human relations, decision making, and other skills required of well-qualified medical personnel.
Vocational Nursing
Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), sometimes called Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), provide direct medical care to patients under the direction of doctors and registered nurses. LVNs often have more contact with patients than any other member of the healthcare team. If you’re a compassionate person interested in helping others as a nurse, Vocational Nursing training could put you on the path to a rewarding career.
Unitek College offers certificate and associate degree programs in Vocational Nursing. Our intensive 12 month Vocational Nursing Certificate Program covers clinical and theory components to prepare graduates to take the NCLEX-PN licensing exam, and work as a generalist Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). All Unitek College pre-licensure Vocational Nursing students complete clinical rotations at a healthcare facility as a part of their curriculum.
Educational objectives include: collaborating effectively with clients, families, and health care teams to provide holistic care; assisting in the formulation of a problem-solving approach to deliver basic nursing care to clients; and coordinating patient care with other members of a health care team within the standards of practice.
Medical Office Administration
In addition to the above listed programs, Unitek offers other academic programs of interest. Current programs include, Medical Office Administration and Dental Assisting for qualifying students.
