The Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES School offers training opportunities for health-related fields and the classes are offered 3-4 times per year. Choose from its offering of Certified Nursing Assistant and Practical Nursing Programs.
The Practical Nursing program is a 1,200-hour program that will prepare you to be competent and effective practical nurses to safely practice the profession under the Nurse Practice Act. You will also be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination and to apply for state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
This is a full-time program to be taken up in Southern Adirondack Education Center, Dix Avenue, Hudson Falls in a duration of 10 months (September-June). Classes are scheduled 8a-2:30p and clinical days at 7a-3p. Clinical experiences are obtained through sub-acute and acute rehabilitation centers, physician offices, homecare and hospice agencies, and other local skill nursing facilities.
To take the first step for your admission, you may call or email Debbie Wright at 746-3508 for pre-admission testing. For the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), you may take it from January through April at the Southern Adirondack Education Center in Hudson Falls and achieve scores higher than 55% in reading, math and verbal skills. There is a study manual and online practice test that you may purchase.
