Washington County Skill Center (WCSC) main campus located in Abingdon, Virginia, but classes are also taught on the Virginia Highlands Community College campus. WCSC provides high quality technical training for Southwest Virginia, Northeast Tennessee, and surrounding areas. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm.

  • Diesel Truck Technician
  • CNC/Conventional Machining
  • Medical Assisting
  • Industrial Combination Welding

While the allied health classes have specific start dates, all other programs are open entry and starting times are scheduled each month. View detailed information on program tuition and fees (http://www.wcskillcenter.org/statistics.html). Financial aid is available to those who qualify.

The Medical Assisting Program spans 30 instructional weeks or 900 hours and prepares students for occupations as a Medical Assistant, Medical Records Clerk, Medical Office Manager, or Medical Billing/Coding—allowing them to walk away as a Registered Medical Assistant.

The Diesel Truck Technician Program spans 31 instruction weeks or 925 hours and prepares students for occupations as a Diesel Technician or Diesel Mechanic. It also provides credit toward ASE two years of experience requirement, Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Procedures Certification and Forklift Operator.

WCSC works with local business and industry to provide apprenticeship opportunities for the community.
