About

Antelope Valley College, located in Lancaster, California, was founded in 1929 as part of the Antelope Valley High School as a junior college to provide the first two years of a college education. The college suffered from low attendance for most of the great depression and into World War II, until the return of veterans and a burgeoning aircraft industry saved the school from closure. Today the number of students has increased from the low of 13 in 1939 to nearly 16,000 a year. The school has also expanded its offerings, providing over 70 programs through is multiple campuses.

 

Academics

As noted above, Antelope Valley College offers over 70 programs of study, resulting in a certificate, diploma, associate's degree, or in some cases, a bachelor's degree. Courses are available on campus or online, and some programs are designed for career training, while others are designed for transfer to a four year institution.

Admission to Antelope Valley College is open to high school graduates or GED holders, with certain programs having more stringent requirements. Individuals interested in enrolling should complete the admissions application, followed by the registration process. Financial aid is available to eligible students, determined through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
