Academics
Laney College offers technical and career or academic programs resulting in associate degrees or certificates. Technical and career programs provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the workforce immediately after graduation. These students will learn to operate as professionals, having earned practical experience alongside their classroom education. Academic programs complete the first two years of a four year education at a low cost and allow for transfer to a four year institution upon completion. Additional courses are available for adult and continuing education programs, allowing individuals interested in returning to school to return with ease.
Programs offered include:
Admissions and Financial Aid
As a public two year institution Laney College utilizes an open enrollment policy in regards to admissions, where any high school graduate or GED holder may enroll. In conjunction with their application, students should supply all pertinent documents and transcripts and are required to take a placement exam. Financial aid is available in the form of loans and grants. Students in need of aid should complete and submit a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to determine eligibility and awards. Each scholarship may require a separate application and require certain criterion in order to be considered. Awards are distributed based on the scholarships mission, often for reason other than need.
