About
Victor Valley College, located in Victorville, California, was approved in 1960 and began offering classes in an empty building at Victor Valley High School in 1961. Construction began in 1963 on a permanent campus and was completed in 1965. Over the years VVC has seen a number of improvements to its campus, including the recent of opening of a satellite campus offering public safety training. A second satellite is scheduled to open soon. Victor Valley College has approximately 13,000 students per year, making it one of the largest community colleges in California. To ensure that the school's educational offerings remain relevant and current, facilities and programs are continually under review, updated as required to meet the needs of students and the community.
Academics
As a 2 year public institution Victor Valley College offers a variety of programs that result in a diploma, certificate or associate degree. These programs either assist students in transferring to a four year university or obtain entry level work in the field of study of their choosing. Academic transfer programs complete the first two years of a four year education, allowing for transfer to complete a bachelor's degree. The school has agreements in place with several public institutions in California in order to facilitate transfer. Career and technical programs provide students with a classroom education and practical training to ensure that the skills necessary to enter the workforce as a professional are in place. These programs take between one and two years to complete, after which graduates will earn a certificate or diploma and be eligible for entry level positions in their field of study. Victor Valley College is dedicated to providing a quality education to its students.
Programs offered include:
Admissions and Financial Aid
Students wishing to enroll at Victor Valley College must submit the application along with all relevant transcripts. Once submitted, students must take a placement exam to identify which level of courses the student needs to take. Financial aid is available to eligible students. As an open enrollment institution any student who meets the minimum requirements for entry will be admitted. Registration for courses open shortly before the start of each semester, with tuition due thereafter.
Financial aid is available in the form of state and federal loans and grants. Students in need of financial assistance must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the resulting student aid report from which will be used to determine need, eligibility and awards. Once received, Victor Valley College will notify individuals about their aid status. Students may be asked to provide additional information to verify accuracy prior to the disbursement of funds. For further inquiries students may visit the financial aid office. External scholarships may also be pursued, requiring separate applications and awarded for a variety of reasons.
Athletics
The Victor Valley Rams Participate in the California Community College Athletic Association, The Foothill Athletic Conference and the Southern California Football Association. The school operates a number of athletic programs which provide students the opportunity to participate in a healthy, competitive environment.
