About
California Career College, located in Canoga Park, California, opened in 2001 and received its nursing accreditation in 2002. California Career College offers 12 and 18 month nursing programs that focus on hands on education for students. Once the program is completed students will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Vocational Nursing (NCLEX-VN). Additionally, licensed vocational nurses may take a 30 hour program in intravenous therapy certification which will train nurses in venipuncture, legal issues, infection control, IV fluids, and patient care.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Enrollment is open to all students who are 18 or over, take the entrance exam (math, reading and writing), have a high school diploma or GED, and are physically capable of performing the duties required of being a nurse.

- The Vocational Nursing Program at California Career College (the "Program") will prepare High School Graduates (or equivalent) in the role of nursing, the goal of which is to meet the varied health care needs of the community. The primary focus of the program will be to provide each student with concepts and principles that are basic to nursing and the provision of patient care. The problem-solving appraisal of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) has been integrated throughout the Program. The role of the Vocational Nurse as he/she assists the physician and the Registered Nurse with the steps in this process will be utilized throughout both the classroom and clinical curriculum.

- I am a recent graduate from this school and I agree with everyone else, this school was my worst nightmare. Everything about it is shady and unethical. They don't care if you pass. On the contrary, they want you to repeat a semester for their benefit. I got through school on my own. During the clinical days when we didn't do much, except gossip or listen to the instructor talk about her wonderful life, I'd study my flash cards or read my notes. I learned so much after I graduated, on my review prior to taking my nclex. I passed my nclex the first time, but not because of anything school taught me, because of my self teaching and motivation. So think twice before enrolling here, you will be on your own. The instructors here serve no purpose.

- I've never had any complaints from any school attended. But this school of California Career College is probably one of the sickest and most scammed private nursing schools in southern California.
I had one nursing instructor who was, to put it kindly, on a power and ego trip. No matter what the students did in clinical (creating nursing care plans, etc.) it was incorrect.
This instructor has a low self esteem and puts another person down.
My point is that these types of very sick, egomaniac instructors need to leave the teaching profession or change their acts before we lose more perfectly capable nursing students. Definitely stay away from this school.

- i am a student of the LVN program and we students are so frustrated by this school already!! The school isonly worried about their own reputation and their ability to recruit more students, not education plus they teach horribly. If you learn from your mistake, you WILL NOT LEARN HERE! Every test you take you will not be able to see your test questions again for fear of future students cheating.
The clinical instructor were very rude with rebellious attitude. she berated and back stabbed you among with her filipino cohorts! never again recommend this school of california career college. Its a waste of your time, money and that puts you and your families safety and economic status at risk.
I can certainly empathize with having a horrible clinical instructor. Right now, I am in clinical hell with the devil for an instructor!!! Shes passive-agressive, condescending, she talks to students like they are incompetent, she is NEVER clear on what she expects, and the make you feel like an idiot when you don't give her what she wants (and you don't ever really know what that is until after the fact) We are totally unfamilar with the paperwork on the unit, and to top it all off she hovers! I trully think I might hate this woman. She is ruining our semester.

- I'm a recent graduate from this school. I'm very thankful that I made it throughout the program but I am not happy with this school during my entire semesters. Its a rat place. It took me several months before I was hired for a job because of their bad reputation and building value in emerging students. They are very gimmicky and bad spirited - both the instructors and owners alike. Its sad living a bad feedback for a school, but they really need to do some drastic change as far as treating students like customers In lieu of treating and mishandling them like a rats in a maze. But, until then, this feedback will remain visible to anyone curious about this school and it will not remove until I start seeing good and positive results from genuine students.

- Instructors have no discipline. they simply failed to maintain appropriate boundaries and professionalism when dealing with stressed students. Unprofessional conduct by faculty and instructors is protected by its own authority. Therefore, we students feel no such protection, and maintain that the current structure of education does more to harm students' virtue, confidence, and ethics, causing the students to cheat the exam as a part of coping mechanism. They also bypass reviewing the material in a stressful environment.

- Not very happy with this school. Clinical instructor's are a bully and rude. Don't believe everything what you read bellow. It's too good to be true and I have never heard it from anyone who made with this such positive feedback about this school. And whoever who wrote these messages its obviously from by the staff. That's fallacy!

- I've been going to CCC and i am currently in my first semester fundamentals and we are only a class of 14 students. I very much recommend it. Yes, we all know this school is less expensive but you are really getting what you're paying for. If I could have gotten into a cheaper LVN program, with no wait list, and graduate in less than 18 months part time and i am able to work full time and support my living; of course I would have gone for it...but for me, there were no other schools who could offer me that. I would honestly recommend CCC to anyone who truly has a passion for nursing and at same time have to work and support self.
Like I mentioned before, you are getting what you're paying for. My fundamentals instructor is out of this world - absolutely top of the line, she helps us learn with her sweet approach but sarcastic approach when she needs to be which i guess justifies her position, what i like about her is the way she handles each and every situation by putting herself in our shoes but on the same side she keeps reminding us that it is a fast pace program and work load is strenuous therefore college instructors will share their knowledge with you but rest the students input have to be at its max which i guess she is right going to private college does not mean that the instructor will feed you. I have personally seen students with that approach and thinking are the ones who end up crying and complaining over each and every thing. I think my another favorite part, by far, are the other students. I have made life long friends here and after at least 4 months of going here I have never felt a cliche vibe or come in contact with rude students. They really become your family and everyone is in the same boat.
Some of the cons about this school are that they are very strict with the students conduct. They will not tolerate any kind of nonsense by any student which does not come in professional grounds. Some of the bad points about college is that sometimes the office is very disorganized. you end up having to call the school numerous times for questions that should have been answered originally.
All in all, no school is perfect - but for me, I am happy with my decision and would recommend it. And as i keep going on with my semester ahead i will keep you all posted about my progress.

- LVN program in California Career College was the worst experience in my life. Most of students were failing due to a lot of stress. In the first semester the clinical is in an assisted living home and we don't do anything. There is nothing for us to practice, it is just a big waste of time. One of the teachers just goes there and sits in the conference room with the students to surf the internet on the cell phone, or just leave early to go eat or shopping. The clinical is supposed to start at 7 am and go until 3 pm, though most of the time the teacher was arriving late (9 am) and leaving early( about 1 pm).
The teachers are rude; one of them has a strong accent and we can't understand one word that she says. The lectures are based on instructor's experiences and read over slides, this when she is not speaking about her life .
They don't have any material to teach us or even a new box of gloves, most of the gloves are so old and have holes on them. You need to practice with used syringes. They are always out of everything. It's just a complete nightmare. Where is the money from the student's tuition going?
Unethical things are going on in this school and nobody says or does anything. One of the teachers always favors some students because they talk the same language, she knows that we can't speak another language other than English, but she insists in speaking her own language. This is incredibly disrespectful.

- I graduated from this school and wouldn't recommend anyone attend. The reputation for this school is real bad and finding a job, being a "California career college graduate" isn't fun. Many nursing homes and hospitals look down upon this school. All I can say, is this school is a scam that mentally and physically exhausts you.
