Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Paris
Also known as Tennessee Technology Center
340 Washington St, Newbern, TN
The objective of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Paris is to provide technical training to students to meet the occupational needs of the community. Before it was called TTC-Paris, the school was formerly a consolidation of the seven Henry County High Schools in 1970. The school started out as a branch of the McKenzie Vocational School.
The school opened its doors to its first enrollees in 1972 and it focused more on programs related to the health industry. It was then during the following year that other programs were added which include the electronics program, small gas engine repair and general metals. In 1973, the school was expanded with some 23,000 square foot addition to the main campus. The expansion also resulted to the school offering more programs including child care, cosmetology, farm equipment repair, auto body repair, plumbing and appliance repair. It was only during 1983 when the school was transferred to the Tennessee Board of Regents thus its name was changed to Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Paris.
Today, the school contributes to the growth and development of the local economy by training competitive workforce. With its drive to excellence in technical training, the school also became accredited with the Council on Occupational Education. The college also got approval from the Veterans Affairs Administration.
The Tennessee Board of Regents controls the tuition fee rates in TTC-Paris. Fulltime students need to pay $183 per credit hour. This tuition fee rate is implemented in other technology centers governed by the TBR since last academic year (2012-2013). On the other hand, students who wish to enroll in community colleges and state universities will be able to transfer their credits easily as long as the community college or university is accredited or governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents system.
