Columbia Southern University is an independent online college based in Orange Beach, AL that was founded in 1993 by Robert G. Mayes, Jr. The university curated its first wave of degreed programs the following year in Occupational Safety & Health and Environmental Engineering and continued to add a variety of program in the ensuing years.
CSU holds accreditation from the Distance Education Accreditation Commission (DEAC) which is recognized by both the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education (DOE).
