New Beginning College of Cosmetology (GSCC)

1001 George Wallace Dr, Gadsden, AL

The New Beginning College of Cosmetology was founded over five decades ago and is located in Albertville, Alabama.  As a privately held organization, New Beginnings College believes cosmetology is far more than just hair and nails.  This belief is reflected in their curricular design, ethics, and holistic approach to cosmetology.

New Beginnings College of Cosmetology offers a number of training programs in the cosmetology industry.  In fact, they offer programs in cosmetology to help students effectively work with a customer's hair, nails, and skin.  The NBC program comes with a unique set of curriculum that include an array of disciplines for students to master.  For example, the cosmetology program includes a number of programs about the history of cosmetology and employment opportunities after graduation.  Students next learn about the basics of chemistry and electricity.   Chemistry basics help students understand chemicals and chemical reactions with respect to hair, nails, and skin.  The study of electricity helps students understand the basics of working with electrical equipment and light therapy.

Next, students will learn key life skills that include goal setting, time management, professionalism, and ethics.  Students will also learn a suite of transferrable skills in the salon business and business management.  Lastly, students will be exposed to a number of anatomy and physiology programs to better understand the human body.  Classes may include organs, the body system, skeletal system, respiratory system, circulatory system, and endocrine system to name a few.

Hands-on training is the key to success for any cosmetologist.  As such, students have the opportunity to work with their hands to blend academic work with practical experience.  This reinforces the academic principles taught at NBC and helps student remember by doing.
