The Lutheran School of Nursing, located in Saint Louis, Missouri, has been in operation for over a hundred years. The school is located on the Jefferson campus of St. Alexius Hospital and is a one the hospitals departments. The school's goal is to provide students with the a variety of useful skills that will allow graduates to work as professionals upon graduation. The school is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

Academics

Lutheran School of Nursing offers two nursing programs. The first allows new students to become registered nurses, the second allows for licensed practical nurses to become registered nurses. The first program takes 22 months, while the second program takes 15 months to complete. Both programs provide nurses with the skills and knowledge to find entry level positions as registered nurses, emphasizing critical thinking, effective communication, health education and proper implementation of the nursing process.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students interested in enrolling at the Lutheran School of Nursing must complete the application for admission, coupled with a two page essay about why the student is interested in attending the school and becoming an RN. Students must also supply all relevant transcripts, and obtain a passing score on an assessment test (waived for those who score above 20 on the ACT exam). And three estimate of suitability forms from non-family members who have known the individual for over six months.

Financial aid is available in the form of federal loans and grants. Students in need of aid should complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), from which the resulting Student Aid Report (SAR) will be used to determine eligibility and awards.
