The Washington Hospital School of Nursing operates on a strong philosophy of interdependence. The faculty believes in fostering motivation, encouraging self-direction and stimulating analytic inquiry in their students. As such, the mission of the school seems to be the preparation of individuals to be professional nurses in a dynamic environment that requires them to be lifelong learners.

Founded in 1897, the Washington Hospital School of Nursing is the proud facilitator of over 4,000 graduations. With a reputation for quality instruction and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, the school offers a 24-month nursing program that leads to a diploma on successful completion. The course involves a total of 1,920 theory and clinical hours spread out over four semesters of 18 weeks each.

The currently posted tuition and other fees comes to a total of $16,700 for the two-year diploma program, and costs are the same for in-state and out-of-state students. As of 2012, all of its 161 undergraduate students received some form of financial aid, of which grant aid averaged $4,308 and student loan aid averaged $5,955.
