Union County College, located in Cranford, New Jersey, was founded in 1933 and was originally now as Union County Junior College. It is one of the oldest community colleges in New Jersey, though in its early years was underfunded, resulting in space rental from local high schools in order to hold classes and its original purpose was less to educate individuals, but rather to provide employment for unemployed teachers. The initial hardships of the school were slowly turned as enrollment grew and emphasis on career training emerged after the end of World War II. Though it had obtained independent status earlier, the school merged with Union County Technical Institute in Scotch Plains in 1983, and once again became a full public institution and taking the name Union County College. The school has over the years demonstrated competence in educating its students, with graduates performing better than the national average in regards to default rates, though the rest of the state maintains an average higher than the nation's.

About Rowan College at Gloucester County was formerly known as Gloucester County College.  RCGC is located in Sewell, New Jersey. It began operation in 1966 through the approval of its charter by the department of education.

The school initially gave instruction through facilities at Monongahela Middle School and Deptford Township High School.  They completed construction on its first building in 1970. About Mercer County Community College, located in West Windsor, New Jersey, was founded in 1962 as a merger between Trenton Junior College and the newly established MCCC. The school was given a 292 acre located to house its facilities and offer students comprehensive post-secondary educational opportunities. The campus was officially opened in 1971, initially serving approximately 1300 student.

Since its inception the school has expanded its facilities, offering cultural, technical and other resources to students and residents of the community.  Mercer County CC further expanded by opening a center in Trenton, offering residents of the city access to similar services. MCCC has agreements in place with six four-year public New Jersey institutions, allowing for dual enrollment or transfer upon completion of the first two years of a four year education. Students may apply to any four year institution they wish to transfer too, though the public institutions guarantee admission if certain academic requirements are met.
Career programs result in either a certificate or associate degree, demonstrating that the individual is qualified to perform tasks and duties at the entry level immediately upon graduation. These programs provide the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the workforce through a mixture of classroom and practical study, allowing individuals to develop the experience necessary for success.

Admissions and Financial Aid As an open-enrollment institution, all students interested in enrollment at Mercer County Community College will be admitted if they meet the minimum requirements for admission.

Students must supply transcripts and may be required to take a placement exam to determine which general education courses they must take. Registration begins shortly before the start of a given semester, with tuition fees usually due shortly thereafter.

Camden County College, located in Camden, New Jersey, was established in 1967 on land which had formerly belonged to the Mother of the Savior Seminary. The original three buildings purchased along with the 320 acres of land that consist of the Camden campus are still in use, with their placement in relation to one another forming  a central courtyard which became the location for the first graduation ceremony held by the school.

Over the years the college expanded the campus, adding new buildings and programs as needed to meet new community demands for education and training. The process of expansion has yet to yield, with plans currently in place to modernize and update older facilities in order to meet student demand and expectation. In addition to the main campus, CCC operates several center and branch campuses to provide more opportunities in the school's expanded service area.

Hudson County Community College, located in Hudson County, New Jersey, was founded in 1974 after several commissions identified a need for a post-secondary institution in the area. The school began offering technical and career programs that were reflective of the needs of the region. In 1994 the school went through a period of reorganization with a focus on increasing student enrollment. By 2009, the school had one of the largest enrollments in the state, primarily due to the changes in the economy, and had one of its largest graduating classes in 2011 with over a thousand students. The school has an 18-1 student to teacher ratio, allowing for a more personalized education.  Additionally, HCCC is close to New York City, allowing access to a large number of galleries, museums, shows and more. Academics Hudson County Community College offers over thirty five programs of study that may result in certificates or associate degrees. Certificate career associate programs prepare students for entry into the workforce immediately after graduation. Certificate programs tend to be shorter than associate programs due to a lack of general education courses. Academic programs generally fulfill the first two years of a four year education, and agreements in place with several four year institutions in the region allow for transfer upon completion. Student Activities HCCC provides students with an ever-changing list of extracurricular activities that are regularly posted through the student activities office. The first is known as Tapestry, and is a collection of works through poems, essays, short stories, photography or art. Reflections is the school's official yearbook, published once a year, and compiles images and memories through photography and writings.
