Scioto County Career Technical Center (SCCTC), also known as “Sciototech”, is a public less-than-two-year college that offers more than 14 full-time certificate courses in diverse fields such as nursing and diesel mechanics. In addition, they also offer 8 part-time programs designed to provide vocational training to adult students.
The mission of SCCTC is “to provide a superior workforce through personalized training, new technologies, and community partnerships.” Founded in 1971, the school has been providing technical and other career-based education to students, industries and businesses in Lucasville, Ohio, for more than 40 years.
Full time courses of a minimum of 600 hours per year include programs in various disciplines such as Automotive/Transportation, Public Safety, Trade, Industrial, Health Care, Business and Technology.
Part time courses, also known as Career Enhancement Programs, are also available. These are typically less than 600 hours per year. Discounts are given to senior citizens who present their Golden Buckeye Card.
Financial aid is an option to those who qualify, and at the end of successfully completing a course, the center issues a Career Passport containing all documentation regarding training, certification, competencies and other relevant details. Those eligible to receive this passport are also given assistance with résumé building and job searches. Early Occupational Placement is also offered for some programs.
Sciototech offers Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board continuing education in a variety of fields. In addition, the school has entered into partnership with Southern State Community College to Associate of Technical Science degrees in Technical Studies, Computer Technology, Medical Assisting and Criminal Justice.
