
East Stroudsburg University, located in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was originally a private normal school founded in 1983 to provide elementary and science education courses. By 1920 ownership was passed to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, resulting in a name change to East Stroudsburg State Normal School.
Within seven years the school was granted the right to offer bachelor's degrees, resulting in yet another name change, this time to State Teachers College at East Stroudsburg. By 1960 the college had expanded its offerings, and by n963 was offering Bachelor of Arts and master degrees and became formally known as East Stroudsburg State College.
By 1982 the school officially was recognized as a university and changed its name to the current. East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is a comprehensive university providing a variety of educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
Academics

As a result students wishing to enroll should have above average grades and score moderately well on standardized tests if they wish to be admitted.

Students in need of aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which is used to determine need, family contribution, aid program eligibility and monetary awards. Financial aid must be reapplied for prior to the start of each academic year due to changing circumstances from year to year regarding an individual's finances.
